Description: Environmental Justice refers to the fair treatment of people to protect their health and the health of their environments. It also encompasses inclusion in decision making processes to protect local environments regardless of race, gender, national origin, or income. This course will examine environmental history in Western Mass, locations of environmental injustices, and initiatives to better promote environmental justice in the area.

Instructor Biography:

Francesca Spina, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Criminal Justice Department at Springfield College. She is passionate about many issues related to justice, including environmental justice, gender and crime, and race and crime. She loves teaching learners of all ages.
