Springfield College Department of Social Work, 8 month-Seminar in Field Instruction Certificate for Supervisors of Social Work Students
The Seminar in Field Instruction for Supervisors of Social Work Students provides an exciting opportunity for those who are new to supervision or are looking to deepen their supervision skills amongst their colleagues and peers in the profession.
This seminar is highly encouraged for all field supervisors working with social work interns for the first time and has three primary goals:
1. Provide information about the Springfield College Social Work program mission, goals, objectives, and curriculum which is guided by the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards of our accrediting body, the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
2. Provide content knowledge and development in skills related to supervision.
3. Support the field supervisor’s developing identity in their supervisory role and their competence as a social work educator.
Structure of the Program This is an interactive group seminar designed to utilize the expertise of the participants and the instructor exploring theory and practice of supervision and mutual problem-solving and consultation. The program is offered in a hybrid online format including a live/synchronous interactive Zoom classroom with supplemental asynchronous/self-paced online elements and is scheduled to begin in September 2022. Each session combines a presentation of theoretical and practical content, and is supplemented by experiential learning activities and opportunities for peer/group supervision.Synchronous sessions will include peer supervision and group discussion. Self-paced asynchronous activities will include videos, articles, reflections, worksheets, and experiential assignments.
